Bainbridge Island Trip Planner

In Seattle, you’re only miles from
one of the world’s great isles.

Half-Day Suggestions

Winslow

One of the great things about Bainbridge is that you can step right off the ferry and walk a couple of blocks to downtown Winslow. Once there, you can easily spend a few hours checking out one-of-a-kind shops, eating or drinking at any of the restaurants or cafes, visiting a gallery or museum, or just walking around. Winslow is a nice, friendly, low-key, all-American town.

To see the island’s other attractions, having your own car or bike will give you the freedom to explore on your own. Island bus service is generally limited to commuter hours. Two taxi companies, Taxis and Tours (206-842-7660) and Bainbridge Island Taxi (206-842-1021), are available. In late spring and throughout summer, you can rent bikes in Winslow. Kitsap Tours offers guided scenic tours and photo safaris of the island and neighboring Kitsap County. Bainbridge Island Touring Company (Steve Parsons, 206-245-5880) provides quiet and discreet rides in a private touring car with half & full day tours of the island, including Bloedel Reserve.

Bloedel Reserve

If you plan to see just one attraction outside of Winslow, Bloedel Reserve comes highly recommended, especially on nice days in late spring, summer and early fall. This world-class 150-acre garden is located near the northernmost part of the island. You’ll need to allow 20-30 minutes to get there and at least two hours for a leisurely stroll through the grounds. No picnicking is allowed, so you might want to stop in Winslow before or after Bloedel for a snack. Reservations to the park are no longer required, but are recommended.
