Is there anyone on Bainbridge who’s not an artist?
All right. That’s an exaggeration. But not by much. The Bainbridge arts scene is thriving. This is an island filled with artists, including actors, dancers, designers, filmmakers, illustrators, musicians, painters, photographers, poets, sculptors, singers, and fiction and nonfiction writers.
Graphic arts? There are all kinds of galleries and studios in Winslow and around the island. The first Friday of every month, Bainbridge galleries sponsor an arts walk featuring new exhibits.
Then there are shows and concerts. Bainbridge Performing Arts offers year-round presentations of drama, dance, and art right in downtown Winslow. In addition, the island has an active music scene with all kinds of live performances, from bluegrass to Broadway musicals.
And the written word? You can catch local authors signing books and giving readings at Eagle Harbor Book Company, one of the last remaining independent bookstores in Western Washington. Recently, the bookstore was offering signed books by nearly a dozen successful local writers.
