Winslow: miles from ordinary.
Winslow is the heartbeat of Bainbridge Island. It’s the nexus. The center of gravity. The place where most things get done.
Downtown Winslow is just a short walk from the ferry terminal. You can take a path through Waterfront Park, or you can walk a block north of the ferry dock to Winslow Way—the island’s “Main Street.” Then stroll a couple of blocks west.
Pick up an espresso at any of Winslow’s cafes. At the Mora Iced Creamery, you’ll taste some of the best homemade ice cream on the planet. Check out the restaurants, art galleries and shops. You’ll find a good size marina at the foot of Madison. From April to October, you can also buy island-grown fruits, vegetables and flowers at the Saturday Farmers Market next to City Hall.
If you have kids, plan to spend some time at the Kids Discovery Museum (Kidimu). Using imagination and hands-on games, exhibits, activities and workshops, the museum helps kids explore this remarkable world of ours.
And if you have an interest in history, take the time to visit the Bainbridge Historical Society & Museum. Located in a renovated 1908 schoolhouse, the museum has thousands of artifacts, documents and photographs associated with the long and colorful history of Bainbridge.
